This noodle restaurant operates out of a 200-year-old, thatched roof Japanese home. Here, surrounded by the restaurant's relaxing Japanese-style atmosphere, customers can enjoy udon and soba noodles made daily by the owner by hand. Some of the many soba and udon noodle dishes the restaurant serves include tempura soba topped with seafood tempura, kitsune udon topped with deep-fried tofu, and bainiku udon topped with plenty of vegetables and a shredded dried plum sauce. The restaurant also offers rice topped with barley and grated yam, Omi beef sauteed in miso over rice, and other set meals.

金堂の観光エリアの中にあるうどん屋さん。藁ぶき屋根の渋い古民家で、座敷に上がって寛げます。うどんは少し細めの柔らかタイプ。サイドメニューもしっかり。バラ寿しを組み合わせたひな祭りセットをいただきました。

かつては神崎郡五個荘町、今は東近江市五箇荘の近江商人発祥の地の街並みの一角の古民家がうどん屋になっていた。よく手入れされた日本庭園に面した広い座敷にどっしりしたテーブルが並びししおどしを聞きながらうどんをいただいた。あんかけうどんはキノコたっぷり、生姜の風味が効いたアツアツのうどんであった。

東近江市の伝統的建造物保存地区にある古民家を改装したうどん屋。近江商人の発祥地でもあって趣きのあるお店。テレビや映画の撮影があったのか芸能人のサインも飾ってあった。メニューはうどん屋だけあってうどんと蕎麦が中心。予約をすると他のメニューも可能。うどんは薄味であっさりとしている。麦とろ定食は麦ご飯は美味しかったが、とろろ芋はすでに醤油が入ってあって少し辛かった。他のメニューも食べてみたい。
