Mikawa-machi Canola Flower Field

Other places famous for flowers
Mikawa Town, Yamagata Prefecture is one of several in Japan known for cultivating field mustard. In the spring, the area is resplendent with bright yellow blossoms blooming against a backdrop of Mt. Chokai and Mt. Gassan, making it a popular spot for tourists to take scenic photos. A “Field Mustard Festival” is held during the Golden Week holiday period in early May at Iroribi no Sato, across from the fields that lie alongside Prefectural Route 333. It includes plenty of events for families to enjoy, such as photographing models who are dressed in splash-patterned kimono with red aprons, designed to look like field mustard flowers; a dance festival, and events especially for children.
