The grounds of Hojusan Risshakuji Temple in Yamadera, Yamagata City are known as one of the prefecture’s premier scenic spots, and is also known as “Yamadera Temple.” Many people come to the temple in the fall, when the leaves of the trees in the grounds turn a beautiful shade of red, and at night the trees are also illuminated.
