This art gallery is located along Prefectural Route 62 in Yamadera, Yamagata City. The gallery features a collection from local industrialist, Suejiro Goto. The majority of the collection falls in the Academism style, Barbizon style or other European schools, but there are also sculptures, porcelain panel paintings, glass crafts and more split into two exhibits: “The world of European paintings” and “The art nouveau world of fantastic glass.” There is also an observation rest room overlooking the expansive nature of the Yamadera area.

山形・山寺にいながらにして、フォンテーヌブローを旅した気分。まさかムリーリョの絵に出逢えるとは思わずこれまたビックリ！！ガレやドームのランプも多数あり、見応え充分です！！これで800円はかなりリーズナブル。お土産にポストカードもいただき、恐縮なくらいです。
芭蕉記念館よりこっちの方が面白かった

山寺近くにある美術館です。山寺芭蕉記念館に併設されています。芭蕉記念館の方をメインに来たのですが、訪問してみたらこちらの美術館の方が鑑賞して面白かったですね。ミレーとかクールベとかかろうじて名前を知っている著名な画家の作品があったり、個人的に好きだと感じた絵が多かったです。絵画のことは全く分からないので、説明もまったくできませんが、見入ってしまう絵が多かったです。山寺と芭蕉記念館は関連性がありま...
