Koryori-an Kureha
This reservation-only Japanese restaurant is situated on the bank of the Arida River. The restaurant only uses ingredients from Shimizu Town such as edible wild plants, river fish, and mushrooms. The content of the restaurant's signature Tsumikusa Kaiseki course meal vary depending on the season - Biwa trout in spring; sweetfish in summer; and, in autumn and winter, hunter's hotpot made with local chicken, deer, and wild boar. The handmade noodle meal comes with juwari soba noodles made with exclusively with buckwheat flour and no fillers. The restaurant serves a brown rice meal made with the same ancient brown rice variety Taira no Koremori is said to have eaten when he assumed the name Komatsu Yasuke and moved to Kamiyukawa in Shimizu Town.
