Gyotokuji Temple

This temple was opened at the end of the Muromachi period, by abbot Rennyo's leading disciple Akao Doshu. Must-sees include the thatched roof Sanmon gate, built about 300 years ago, and the monk's quarters particular peaked, gabled roof architecture. The Doshu Itokukan heritage museum exhibits treasures connected to Doshu and paintings by Munakata Shiko.

茅葺の山門

西赤尾のバス停前にある浄土真宗のお寺。国指定重要文化財の岩瀬家の隣です。寺に隣接している遺徳館は、残念ながら冬季休館中でした。茅葺の山門が歴史を感じ、趣あります。本堂へは雪と雪囲いもあり、これまた残念ながら、本堂前までは行けませんでした。

冬、大雪でした。雪と寺院はよく似合いますね。大雪でしたので、訪問する人影もなく、雪の音を感じながら、日本の冬景色を堪能できました。相当の積雪ですので、それなりの服装で出かけた方がいいです。
庫裏と鐘楼門が必見！

岩瀬家の隣にあります。赤尾集落での合掌造りは、岩瀬家と行徳寺の庫裏のみだそうです。山門は鐘楼と山門を合体した鐘楼門で、庫裏とともに市の指定文化財です。歴史は古く蓮如上人の高弟・赤尾道宗が永正10年(1513)に開基した古刹。歩いていてもかなり古い、歴史のある寺院だと感じます。岩瀬家と同時に見学するといいのでは。
