Nepal Museum (Tsuru Itsutsu)

Museum / Science Museum
This unique museum stands at the entrance of Higashiyama Hot Spring, which is a retreat from Aizu Wakamatsu. The valuable heritage of Nepal, India and Tibet is displayed in the attic of the Tsuruitsutsu, the relocated residence of a large landowner. The collection of Nepalese and Tibetan artifacts centering on Kangi-ten (God of Bliss) is rare in Japan, and the 300 pieces including Buddhist statues and folk costumes are said to be very impressive. The interior of the kominka (old house), which looks like an ordinary house, is divided into three floors, and visitors can feel the mysterious connection between the Buddhist city of Aizu and Nepal, the birthplace of the Buddha.
