Kinojo Castle (Visitor Center)
Kinojo is a castle on Mt. Kinojo in Okusaka in the city of Soja. It is ancient mountain fortress built during the Yamato period (250–710), but since it is not described in early historical records, the details of its history are unknown. The name “Kinojo” (“Demon Castle”) comes from the local legends of the ura (ogre or hero). All of Mt. Kinojo has been designated as National Historic Site.
