This astronomical observatory is located in the Okura area of Bisei-cho, Ibara City. With a 101-centimeter reflecting telescope, you can observe astronomical objects without a reservation from Friday to Monday night. In addition, besides displaying a life-size reproduction of an ancient Chinese celestial position measuring instrument, scale model of the 101-centimeter reflecting telescope and a solar telescope, there is also a library and training room.

金曜日から、日曜日にかけて、夜色々な惑星等が口径101センチ望遠鏡で天体観測が出来ます。月曜日は休館日です。
国内最大規模

美星天文台は吉備高原の高台にあり、360度の展望が開けて天を見る事が出来、国内最大規模の公開天文台で誰でも見る事が出来ますが、入場料300円が必要で300円がの価値が疑問で星一つ減としました。また敷地内手前にも天文台がありましたが理由不明です。美星町は星が美しく見れる町として知られ、公害防止条例で星空を守っていると記載がありました。

倉敷市などの光の影響は受けますが、星はよく見えます。もちろん夜は真っ暗なので、事前に昼間に下見に行くとよいと思います。天文台の中は、昼間は望遠鏡の見学や展示物もあるので、星が好きな人なら昼間でも楽しめます。天文グッズも売っています。近くの星空公園への地図など周辺マップも置いてあるので参考になると思います。
