Kamagaki no Komichi

This Kamagaki street is made up of fence and wall made from products of the kilns, and is approximately 400 meters long. Many tourists come to see this pottery-filled scenery, which is a rare sight in Japan. Also, on the second Sunday in October, at the Horamachi Kamagaki no Komichi Festival, theytreat visitorsZenzaisweet adzuki soup, as well as exhibitions and sales of the original creations of local potters and artists. Many people visit during this season and the street becomes extremely lively.

現在でも、窯元やその邸宅が建ち並ぶ、窯垣の小径。焼物の街、瀬戸の風情を味わいながら、てくてく散歩に丁度良い。窯垣とは、古い窯道具を積み上げて作った、塀や壁のこと。全国でも、瀬戸でしか見ることができない、貴重な景観だ。登窯などで使用される、エンゴロ、ツク、タナイタを使用した窯垣は、何とも美しい幾何学模様。小さな瀬戸物を埋め込んだ塀も、趣があって素敵。

瀬戸物、と言われるように瀬戸は古くから焼き物の町で、その焼き物自体や窯道具自体を並べ、或いは塗り込み独特な塀や垣が作られています。幾何学的でありながらどこか懐かしく温かみのある景色でした。
猫に遭遇できます

コロナ禍で閉鎖されていましたが、3月は通ることができました。ぽかぽか陽気の中、ゆっくり散策ができました。焼き物の破片が埋め込まれた塀の小道はとても風情があります。駐車場は広くて無料です。毎回日向ぼっこする猫たちに遭遇します。資料館はまだやっていないのが残念ですが、大好きな場所です。
