This facility a one-minute walk from Kintetsu Yamada Line's Saiku Station lets visitors experience the various aspects of Japan's Heian Period, including its culture, technologies, games, and more. You can take commemorative photographs wearing an authentic Heian Period ceremonial kimono, and they have plenty of settings for great shots. One of these is a palanquin you can get in like the ones that used to be reserved for the Emperor, Empress, and the shrine maidens of Ise Jingu Shrine. You can also get a feel for the Heian period with games that were popular back then like sugoroku board games, kemari (a sort of kick ball), and kaiawase (a shell matching game). Their exhibitions and activities change throughout the year according to the season, so there are lots of experiences you can only get there.

《斎宮跡》には 3つの施設[斎宮歴史博物館][いつきのみや歴史体験館][さいくう平安の杜]がありこちらはその一つです。建物も寝殿造りになっており、《葱華輦（そうかれん、斎王が都から斎宮までの群行の際利用した特別な輿）》に乗り記念撮影が出来[女性訪問者の中にはこちらで小袿（こうちき、貴族女性が着ていた装束）を借りて試着し葱華輦に乗り記念撮影されている方もいました]、平安時代の貴族の遊びも実...

いつきのみや歴史体験館を訪れました。入場無料の施設でした。綺麗な建物で、興しに乗ったり、色鮮やかな着物を羽織って記念撮影させてもらえます。貝合わせや昔の双六など、古代の遊びもできたり、無料で楽しめるので、有り難く、楽しいです。

斎宮歴史博物館から徒歩十分くらい。館内に入るとイメージキャラクターの「めぇめぇ」がお出迎え。平安装束の試着体験や、平安時代の遊び体験などができます。
