This ornamental pond style Buke-Shoin garden is located in a corner of Kitabatake Shrine, in Misugi-cho, Tsu City, Mie Prefecture. It is one of the three great Samurai gardens of Japan and was created by Hosokawa Takakuni, the grandfather of Harutomo Kitabatake, who was the governor of Ise in the Muromachi Period. This garden is reminiscent of Kitabatake's splendor in the way it embodies the aesthetics of the local prominent families of the time. Its charming beauty is simple and openhearted. As a garden representative of the Nanboku-cho period, it has been designated as a national place of scenic beauty and as a historical site. It is also very well known as a place to view the green leaves of spring and the red leaves of fall.

見事な庭園

続日本百名城巡りの一環として初めて行きました。北畠神社をお参りし、御朱印とスタンプをいただきました。せっかくなので300円払って庭園を鑑賞しました。巨木が木陰を作り、苔がきれいな緑のじゅうたんのように一面を覆っていました。
山あいにある館跡。国道３６８号は酷道。避けた方がいい。

伊勢から車のナビにしたがって津市美杉町をめざす。津市ということで、気楽に思っていたら、国道（３６８号）なのに道はどんどん狭くなり、カーブもきつくなる。天気も悪くなり、雲の中に入ってしまい、霧の中、時速２０ｋｍ以下で走る道が続く。対向車がきたら、どうやって避けようかと思いながら運転していた。そういう思いが３０分ほど続いたが、幸いに対向車は１台も来なかった。峠までくると道巾も広くなり、カーブもゆるくな...

多気北畠氏城館跡にある庭園で16世紀につくられたものです。入園料は300円で、北畠神社の社務所に納めてから入園します。思っていたよりこじんまりとした庭園で、入園料の300円は高い気がしましたが、庭園は生きているので維持するためには妥当な金額なのかとも思いました。
