Opened in 1998 as a place to experience the tradition of washi (Japanese paper) making, it consists of four facilities where visitors can enjoy Minobu in four ways. The Misuki Fureai-kan is used as a rental and exhibition space. Koshiya Nakatomi is a workshop where visitors can experience traditional washi papermaking. Kamiya Nakatomi sells souvenirs. And Ajisai Ann is a restaurant where you can taste Minobu regional cuisine. You're sure to be able to spend a fulfilling time here.

中富の和紙の里を訪れる

国道５２号線を甲府方面に車を運転していると、左側に建物があります。一度は見学したいと思っていました。小生が、小学校に入学する頃？、我が家でも、茶、蚕(かいこ)、三椏(みつまた)の生産してました。大きな鍋を沸騰させて、大きな桶内で、水蒸気で三椏をふかして、皮をとっていました。この三椏が、和紙の原料です。和紙の事が、参考になりました。
和紙の博物館のような売店

富士川街道を走っている時に、和紙の里の道の駅という看板に惹かれて立ち寄りました。工芸館や体験館もありましたが、色とりどりの和紙や和紙でできた品々ご溢れる売店を見て回るだけで博物館にいるような気がしました。宇宙飛行士の若田さんの字や上皇さま来館時の記念品も飾られています。
イルミネーションの駐車場

毎年１２月から翌１月に開催される西島地区のイルミネーションの指定駐車場になります。ここから会場まで徒歩５分強です。
