An aquarium located close to Pilatus Tateshina Snow Resort in Kitayama, Chino City. Situated 1,750 meters above sea level, it is the highest aquarium in Japan. Specializing in freshwater fish, visitors can view lake and river fish from around the world, including pirarucu, the largest freshwater fish in the world. The aquarium also allows pets and has a dog park.

珍しい淡水生物がたくさん！

淡水魚しかいないのか、と失礼ながらそれほど期待をせずに入館したのですが、とても楽しめました！マニアックな魚が多く派手さはないものの、見たことのない魚や各水槽の説明文に、こんな生き物がいるの？！という驚きが止まりませんでした。説明も読みながらじっくり見て回ると、豆知識も増えるし、おもしろかったです。
昭和な小さな水族館

想像していた以上に古い、昭和感漂う水族館でした。淡水魚をメインにした小さな水族館です。雨の日に行ったからか、ファミリーがとても多く、結構混雑していました。コイ、カメの餌やりが人気で、小さな子供がたくさん参加していました。バリアフリー仕様にはなっておらず、中の通路も狭いため、A型の大きく重めのベビーカーで行くには不向きです。入口に行くのに階段を登らないといけません。

世界で最も標高の高い所にある水族館で、淡水魚のみの展示です。入場料1500円に対してコスパは悪いと思いますが、この施設を存続させる寄付だと思えば‥以前はピラルクがいたらしいですが、その大水槽はガランとしてます。レストランやカフェはありません。
