Iwamura History Museum

Reference/Local/Exhibition/Literature Museum
This history museum is located down the hill from the ruins of Iwamura Castle. Built on the site of the former residence of Iwamura’s feudal lord, it displays items that tell Iwamura’s history, including a diagram of the castle area and a hanging scroll by Sato Issai, both from the 1718 and Prefectural Important Cultural Properties. The Iwamura Folk Museum next door is housed in a relocated private home from Kamiyahagicho, Kinomi District. The castle park occupies the area around it, and the Taiko-Yagura, the front gate, and the palace tea room have all been restored. Other historic points of interest include the Utako Shimoda’s Study Room and the relocated front gate of Chishin-kan, the Iwamura clan school.
