Iwaya Dam

Dams
A dam built along the Hida River. The dam helps regulate the water levels of the Hidagawa River, Mazegawa River, and Yugake River. This multipurpose dam is used for flood control, power generation, and general irrigation. With an advance reservation, visitors can go on a tour of the dam’s control room and other areas. There is a small museum on the shore of the dam lake which displays photographs of the construction of the dam up to completion, exhibits on how the dam is used, and a 3D map of the surrounding area. From the roof of this museum, you can get a sweeping view of the dam, and audio explanations concerning the dam are also played here.
