Taisho Roman-kan

Memorial Hall
This memorial hall is part of the Japan Taisho Village theme park which reproduces the ambiance of a Taisho period town. Five minutes on foot from Akechi Railway's Akechi Station, it's dedicated to the first village mayor Mieko Takamine and Kiyotaka Kasugano, the Council President. The white-walled building on a small hill has Taisho period European furniture, music boxes, and a display of oil paintings by Hosui Yamamoto, a local painter known as the “father of Western painting. They regularly hold exhibits related to the Taisho period. The garden of this Taisho Modern style Western building has a rose garden that comes into full bloom in early June.
