Located amidst the Takayama City Sanmachi Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings, old-style streetscape in Kami-sannomachi, Hida-takayama City, Chanome is a modern Japanese café. It is based on the concept of serving items made from the finest ingredients at a reasonable price. An especially popular item is the soft-serve ice cream made exclusively with 100% high-grade matcha tea, ground in the stone mortar near the entrance to the shop. The bite-sized Taiyaki (waffle-like confections filled with bean jam) come in five flavors and are perfect for either eating inside the café or while walking around town. In the summer, the café sells Maruppo Mikan, frozen mikan (Mandarin oranges) on a chopstick skewer.

飛騨高山の古い町並みで歩き疲れ、外の看板にあった抹茶のソフトクリームが気になり入ってみたら中にはもっといろんなものが！結局迷いに迷いましたが、寒かったので期間限定のブリュレチーズケーキとフォンダンショコラと抹茶ラテを頼みました。チーズケーキは炙ってあるので、表面がパリパリで本当においしくてあっという間にペロリ。ベリーのソースがありましたが結局かけることなく全部食べてしまい、このソースも美味しかっ...

秋になって観光シーズンを迎えて上三之町の散策で、以前利用した子鯛焼きを食べ歩きしようと立ち寄りました。店内でもいただけましが、この時期なのでテイクアウトの利用にしました。小さな鯛焼きは色々な餡が入っていましたが、鯛焼きと言うか何だかわからない形でガッカリしていまいました。
