Akita Mt. Komagatake
This is a 1,637meter tall active volcano in Hachimantai National Park in Semboku City, Akita Prefecture. Famed as a treasure house alpine plants, and during the popular blossom season around late June, you can see swathes of flowers like komakusa (Dicentra peregrine) and takane-sumire (viola crassa Makino). The scenery of Mt. Chokai and Mt. Iwate from the peak is also quite popular.
