Kesennuma Umino-ichi
Approximately ten minutes by car from JR Kesennuma Station, Kesennuma Umino-ichi features fine food, shopping, and learning opportunities tied to the sea off Kesennuma. It has the only shark museum in Japan where visitors learn hands-on about shark ecology and the bonds to the sea that nurture the population. Their enormous replica shark is a highlight. They also have ice projection mapping and ice sculpture displays, testifying to the port town's talent for ice art. A large variety of shops provide processed products and fresh seafood landed at Kesennuma and Sanriku area.
