Teshiroginuma Pond

Other places famous for flowers
Teshiroginuma Pond is located 650 meters north of National Route 113 in Takakura, Kakuda City, Miyagi Prefecture. The pond was made about 300 years ago to hold water for agricultural use. Cherry trees bloom along its edge in the spring and in winter swans fly in to pass the season. In summer it's well known for the lotuses that cover the pond with their blossoms, although currently they aren't blooming due to factors inhibiting their growth. Some of the lotuses were transplanted to suitable areas nearby, and you can still see them blooming in all their summertime splendor in fallow rice fields to the south of the pond.
