Toyoma Jinjo Elementary School Building
A history museum located in the Tome-cho neighborhood of Tome City, known as Miyagi Prefecture's Meiji Village due to its many historical buildings. The museum conveys what education was like for a typical Japanese school student from the Meiji to the Taisho periods. The building itself was a real elementary school building in 1888. The school was designed by Kisaburo Yamazoe, the first Japanese person to travel to the west to study architecture. Inside, real desks and chairs from the school's heyday as well as life-sized mannequins show what schooling looked like at the time.

Review
-
