An art museum located in Iwaki City. The museum houses more than 2,300 works of contemporary art from Japan and abroad, as well as works associated with Iwaki city. In addition to the collection gallery, the museum holds special exhibitions introducing various art forms. The museum also has a practical training room and a seminar room, and holds a wide variety of events such as lectures, art classes, and workshops.

重厚な建造物に力作が

ヘンリー・ムーアの作品がエントランスで待っていました。せっかくですので、企画展を含めての入場料を払います。地元の作家さんの力作を見ることができました。展示数が多くも少なくもなく、鑑賞しても疲れません。いい美術館です。
常設展の充実が望まれる

いわき市にある市立美術館。いわき市内で時間があったので、常設展のみ見学。ホームページでは、いろいろ収蔵品があるようですが、12月初旬の見学当日は、特別展が2階であり、常設展は1階の1部屋に前衛彫刻がいくつか展示されているのみでした。郷土作家の展示があるわけでもなく、名の知れた作家の作品を展示もなく、展示の量、質ともに貧弱な印象でした。今の展示では無料で市民の方に開放するなどした方がよいと思いました...

いわき観光で雨が降っていた際、お世話になりました。駅から徒歩圏内で、気軽に芸術に触れられます。企画展が面白かったです。
