Nejo Castle Site

The site of a castle which belonged to the Nanbu, a powerful clan which once ruled the northern Ou region in the middle ages. The remnants of the castle's inner citadel, Tozenji-kan hall, earthwork enclosure, and moat can still be seen today. In October 1994, the castle's major historical sites were turned into a historical park and the castle's main building, workshop, barn, and stable were recreated based on archeological surveys of the inner citadel site. A tour provided by a volunteer guide can be arranged with an advance reservation.

中世の城館根城の跡を公園として整備した場所です。公園内は非常にきれいに手入れが行われていました。復元された本丸部分は入場料が必要ですが、それ以外は無料で散策できます。

南北朝時代に南部師行が築城した「根城」の城跡18万平方メートルがそのまま公園になっている。入り口の旧八戸城東門をくぐると良く整備された芝生の緑が広がる。果樹のほか、しだれ桜が150本以上植えられていて、春には花見スポットとして賑わうそうだ。一本道を進めば、右手に東善寺跡と薬草園、さらに歩くと土塁・空堀と柵に囲まれた本丸がある。復元された本丸エリアは有料。入り口付近に八戸市博物館があり、南北朝時代...
