Oyama Senmaida
Located in the hills of Kamogawa in the central part of the Boso Peninsula, the 375 large and small rice paddies cover an area of approximately four hectares of steep inclines like steps. They are the only natural water fields which use just rain water for cultivation in Japan, where many rare animals and plants can be found in the surrounding areas. Besides being included in the list of “Japan’s Top 100 Rice Terraces” by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 1999, it was recognized as a Place of Scenic Beauty in Chiba in 2002.
