Nakamuraya Shoten

Historical Monument
To reach Nakamuraya Shouten, visitors should walk for about 15 minutes in the direction of Chukei bridge from Sawara Station on the JR Narita Line. Built near the end of the Edo period in 1855, it is an atmospheric general store that deals in sundries, general merchandise, and tatami mats (and other items made of soft rush grass), and in 1993, it was designated a Prefectural Tangible Cultural Property. The actual building is a must-see, and it still in business as a store. Customers can buy small, charming mini parade floats, Boshu fans, and other highly individual Japanese-style sundries that are found nowhere else.
