At Suigo Sawara Aquatic Botanical Garden you can experience the old-fashioned ambience of a Japanese riverside district. It is located in Suigo-Tsukuba Quasi-National Park. Visitors come to enjoy the Ayame Festival in June with one and one and a half million Japanese irises of 400 varieties including Edo, Higo, and Ise, as well as the Hasu Festival from July to August with around 300 varieties of lotus flowers. Many other events are also held.

「千葉県香取市にある市営植物園である。水郷筑波国定公園の表玄関として水郷地帯を代表する観光施設。」とWikipediaにはあるけれど、水郷地帯を代表する観光施設だなどとは到底思えない、田舎感丸出しのお粗末な施設。あやめ部分はまだしも、ハス園のほうは、もっとどれがどの品種か明確にわかるように区分けするべきだ。種名札はあっても、同じ圃場（区画）に植え付けてあるから、どれがどれかを判別できない。種名札も...
愛犬とアヤマ鑑賞

アヤメ祭り期間中に犬を連れて訪れました。休日でしたが夕方5時過ぎだったので売店も営業を終了しており、観光客もまばらだったので、心おきなく鑑賞できました。敷地は広くありませんが、たくさんの種類のアヤメが見頃を迎えており美しい光景でした。芝生のドッグランが無料なのも良かったです。
アヤメの開花期にオススメ。

あやめの季節には様々な品種が咲き誇り、圧巻の景色を楽しめる。ハスや睡蓮も同時期に開花するので、二度おいしい。多少暑い日にも風が爽やかで、快適に過ごせる。
