This is the residence of the village headman in the Edo period, the Arai Family, relocated and opened to the public as a museum of the local region. The appearance of the building is a good example of sericulture farmers, characterized by the layers of chestnut boards, and the shingles on the roof held down by stones. The building has also designated as a National Important Cultural Property of Japan.

秩父鉄道長瀞駅から徒歩５分、宝登山神社へ行く途中にあります。土間には天井を張らず、手斧削の欅を使った柱と栗材を使った屋根に石を乗せる建築様式は、秩父地方の民家の特色が現れているそうです。養蚕農家の民家を現在の場所に移築し、公開展示しています。家の周囲の美しい竹林も見所です。
大きな石を使用した石置[板葺（クリ材）]屋根を持ち国指定重要文化財であり、建築物鑑賞ファンの方訪問お薦めします

こちらが《国指定重要文化財》指定の建築物であり、一般的に[板葺]屋根と言うと [金閣寺][銀閣寺]のような貴族が住むような住宅では杮葺（こけらぶき）と呼ばれる[木材（スキ材が多い）の薄板を竹釘を使用して固定する]タイプで外観の美しさを誇示しておりますがこちらは埼玉の養蚕農家の家だけあって石置[板葺（クリ材）]屋根になっておりその石の大きさと並べ方に魅了され、《国指定重要文化財》でもある...
