Tochigi Prefecture’s Otawara City is home to the prefecture’s only aquarium. In tanks replicating the ecology of the Nakagawa River, you can see creatures that inhabit a range of environments from the source to the river’s lower reaches. The huge tube-type tunnel aquarium featuring fish from the Amazon River like the enormous arapaima and piranha is a must see. There are many interactive areas as well, including touching tanks where visitors can encounter crayfish and starfish directly.

珍しく何度も遊泳のカピバラ茶々丸くんと放し飼い目の前の草食イグアナ君観察。

６月１５日、県民の日無料入園料にてカピバラの茶々丸くんに会いにいきました。この日はご機嫌よくアマゾン水槽をお魚になった茶々丸くんはグルグル何度も周遊していました。こんなに活発な動きをしているカピバラの茶々丸くんも初めてです。古代恐竜時代にいたようなアマゾンジャングルに放し飼いのおとなしいイグアナ君が草をムシャムシャ食べている様子が目の前で観察できました。どちらも初めての経験です。

初めて行きました。コロナで予約制になっていましたが、当日は結局は入場制限なく入れました。展示の仕方が凝っていて、楽しめました。釣り池では２時間550円でとてもとても楽しめました。近くならすぐに行っちゃいます。スタッフの方もお世話好きな方が多く、何度も教えに来てくださいました。
１日楽しめるところです。

期待しないで訪れると、いい意味でそのギャップに驚かされます。淡水専門の水族館ですが、内容も充実していてコスパも高いです。お弁当を持っていくと１日遊べるところです。
