This retro café reminiscent of Showa period is located on the approach to Banna-ji Temple. Although it looks like an old civilian home, inside you’ll find chairs and tables, and a modern Japanese mood. Popular items include the crisply sweet “cream anmitsu” and “mame kanten” —agar covered in black honey and red peas. The “honkaku karakuchi Indian curry” is well received, featuring a good mix of spice and onion sweetness.

足利学校の横道にあります。なにやら動物にみせた石の置物がたくさん置いてあります。あんみつ食べました。甘すぎず、ちょうど良かったです。
気難しいオヤジの店

メニューにランチセット専用のものがあり、説明書きが不明瞭で良くわからなかった。突然、店主と思しきオヤジが現れ、手にしたメニューを引ったくり、これはランチセット専用だと叱られた。足利学校至近では、唯一早朝から開いている店舗なので寄ってみたが、店主はあまり関心しない。あんみつなどで使われている餡は、あまり甘すぎずグットだった。それで辛うじて、☆３つです。
足利尊氏ゆかりの鑁阿寺の参道にあります。

応仁の乱や南北朝時代の本に興味を持つ妻に誘われて参拝しました。店内は歴史を感じる陶器が並んでいます。このような歴史的な場所にふさわしいお店の雰囲気づくりです。食事もできるのですが、休憩ですのでメニューから「豆かん」を見つけました。寒天の上に餡と果物、豆とアイスが乗っています。かかっているミツも甘すぎず、丁度良いバランスになっています。
