Yamanaka Zoudou
One of the shops lining the Konpira Omotesando, Yamanaka Zoudou is a traditional craft store that produces Sanuki Itobori style wood carvings. Sanuki Itobori originated with Yamanaka Zoudou’s founder in the mid-19th century. It features a finishing technique known as “tatakinomi-no-ato,” but their work is not restrained by tradition. Cute products like their colorful, grumpy looking, blue and red painted Pop Daruma figures and the reclining “Hetari Daruma” are popular. They also produce many other handicrafts such as figurines of the Seven Lucky Gods and trays in the form of animals.
