Ichirikido Kyomise Main Shop

Japanese Confectionery
A long-established Japanese confectionery store founded in the Horeki period between 1751 and 1764, and located in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. Since the time of Matsudaira Fumai, the seventh lord of the Matsue Domain, Ichirikido has served as confectioner to the feudal domain. Their specialty sweet is himekosode, a so called otomegashi (limited edition sweet) because it was forbidden to make the sweet unless ordered to do so by the lord of Matsue. It is a delicate flavored sweet made from the finest peeled bean jam and specially made wasanbon sugar (fine-grained Japanese sugar). The store also sells many other sweets including the Matsue specialty, wakakusa, and nishikiogura, made with yokan (adzuki-bean jelly) sandwiched between castella sponge.
