Kaga Temari Mariya

Souvenirs
Kaga Temari (yarn balls) is a tradition said to have begun when Lady Tamahime brought them to the Kaga clan when she married into the Tokugawa family in the Edo period. Kaga Temari Mariya continues to make and sell these yarn balls. Every stage of the process, from creating the base to each needle weave in the pattern, is performed in the traditional way, resulting in charming beauty. And at Mariya, the old technique of using a Kaga thimble is maintained. Approximately 20 minutes on foot from JR Kanazawa Station.
