A pottery workshop and shop located in the Yamashiro Onsen hot spring resort area in Kaga, Ishikawa which has made and sold Kutani ware, a type of traditional Japanese porcelain, since 1906. Suda Seika is famous as the pottery workshop where renowned artist Rosanjin first came in contact with and learned the basics of ceramics in 1915. The current head of the workshop is the fourth to take on the title and continues to follow the traditional production methods of Kutani ware using a climbing kiln and manual techniques passed down through the ages. The appeals of Suda Seika’s overglazed and blue and white Kutani ware includes their rich colors and carefree brushwork. Visitors can select fine pieces to take home with them from among the numerous selections display in Suda Seika’s tatami mat Japanese-style showroom.
