Sakuramotobou Temple

Temple
This temple is said to be built on the spot where the sakura tree stood that Prince Oama, who became Emperor Temmu, saw in a dream. This temple is a dojo for the shugen (mountain asceticism) sect incorporating both Shinto and Buddhist concepts. It houses many relics that are important cultural properties. The yoshino sakura flowers are at their peak every year for the Hana Matsuri (flower festival) celebrating the birth of Buddha.
