Ippuku

Cafe
You’ll find this teahouse in the “Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings” in Yuasa Town, Arida County, Wakayama Prefecture. It was built in an old residence from around the end of the Edo period to the start of the Meiji period. The nostalgic earthen floor interior is always filled with music and has shelves with nearly 2,000 books. In addition to handmade cakes and Japanese sweets, there’s also homemade curry and rice, udon, and other popular dishes. You can bring in grilled fish and sashimi bought from the Kusuyama shop two doors down. Add them to the “rice set” that features Kinzanji miso and miso soup to create an original set meal.
