Yoroizaki Lighthouse
This limestone lighthouse was built on the edge of Kuzaki. The “oyashio” and “kuroshio” currents meet in the surrounding area, making for treacherous waters, so this lighthouse was built to protect fishing vessels. The interior is not accessible, but visitors can view the sea from the structure. Right nearby is a rocky stretch called “Yoroizaki,” from which it gets its name. Legend has it that the name “Yoroizaki” was chosen when Yamahito no Mikoto, seeking the place where Amaterasu was enshrined, visited Kuzaki and removed his yoroi (meaning armor) on the promontory.
