This associate shrine of Inner Ise Shrine is dedicated to the gods Shinatsuhiko-no-Mikoto and Shinatobe-no-Mikoto who govern the wind and the rain. Originally called the “Wind Shrine,” after the Mongolian army was driven off by the kamikaze (divine wind) during the Kamakura-Period the shrine was elevated to the Kazahinomi no Miya. Midway along the path towards Kazahinomi-no-miya you’ll cross a river and the beautiful bridge across the river is very popular with shrine visitors.

ご祭神は、級長津彦命、級長戸辺命瀧祭神で、別宮10社中9位とのことです。正宮、荒祭宮、風日祈宮、大山祇神社・子安神社の順でお参りするのがルールのようですが、道なりでお参りすると風日祈宮、正宮、荒祭宮、大山祇神社・子安神社の順になってしまいます。島路川を風日祈宮御橋でわたってお参りします。途中の景色は大変美しいです。

伊勢神宮(内宮)の別宮。正宮に向かう途中で右に折れ、島路川に架かる橋(風日祈宮橋)を渡ったところに鎮座。創建年不明(804年以前)。祭神は級長津彦命、級長戸辺命。この祭神は風雨を司る神であり、元寇(1281年)の時に神風を起こして日本を守ったとして、1293年に別宮に昇格。社殿は木造萱葺で、隣には遷宮のための古殿地がある。

内宮の別宮の一つ。他の別宮とは少し離れており、五十鈴川にかかる橋を渡らなければならない。この参道、そして橋からの川の眺めはすばらしい。
