Oumu Seki Rock
Located in Isobe Town, Shima City, Mie Prefecture, this is a large slab of rock with a width of 127 meters and a height of 31 meters towering halfway up Mt. Wago. A voice emitted at the speaking place reaches to a separate listening place that is approximately 50 meters away. It was called Oumu Iwa (or Parrot Rock) because it almost seems like the rock is mimicking people’s words. The observatory at the top is a favorable view spot that looks out over the rural land, people’s homes, and the Pacific Ocean off in the distance. In addition to tourists, is a relaxing place also used by locals who come for picnics and excursions.
