Izawanomiya Shrine
This shrine, which enshrines the soul of the sun goddess Amaterasu, has drawn worshippers as a remote shrine since long ago where local residents pray for rich bounties from the sea and mountains. “Isobe no Omita,” the rice planting ceremony held every June, is a designated National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property and is one of Japan’s three largest rice planting festivals. It is approximately a three-minute walk from the Kintetsu Railway Shima Line’s Kaminogo Station.
