Shinmei-jinja Shrine (Ishigami-san)
A Shinto shrine located in Osatsu Town, famous for its ama female divers and fisherman. The small Shinto shrine located on the approach to the main shrine is locally known as “Ishigami-san.” The shrine is dedicated to the goddess Tamayori-hime. Since ancient times, ama female divers have come to the shrine to pray for safety and large catches. Due to this association, legend has it that the shrine will grant one wish to any woman who prays here. Women from all over the country come to visit the shrine. There is a shop and café housed inside a remodeled private home along the approach to the shrine which sells handmade tokoroten jelly noodles and souvenirs.
