The old fashioned exterior of this aquarium speaks of its long history; inside, you’ll find some 4,500 marine creatures comprised of 500 species. The aquarium displays both freshwater and seawater life. Many of the informational cards and posters in the aquarium were hand-written by the staff themselves. Visitors appreciate the easy-to-understand content. The aquarium also goes to efforts to routinely change the content of their exhibits. The cute sea lion shows are popular with adults as well as children.

大好きな水族館巡り。小さいけど、話題性で来客たくさん。手作りの説明書きも人が多くてゆっくり読めないくらい。時間が足りないくらい書き込まれていて飽きない。
小さいお子さん連れなら，文句なし！

小さいが，よく努力している水族館。周辺には，ここのほか，ラグーナ，愛知こどもの国など，小さな子どもが喜ぶ場所がある。もし，蒲郡に宿泊するなら，ここは，安い料金で子どもが楽しめる場所だ。実際，小さな子連ればかりだ。SNSが普及しているせいか，みなさんわかっていらっしゃる。お子さま連れは，ぜひ！

蒲郡市営の水族館で、深海生物の展示が日本一等そのレトロな外観とは異なりコンパクトながら見どころの多い水族館でした。何より魚の説明が飼育員の方々の想いが感じられる手書きでユーモラス、普通の水族館よりしっかり読んでしまいます。カピバラもいます。
