Minato-no-Asaichi Market
Located in the parking lot next to the Higashi Izu Town Office, this morning market is held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday and on holidays. With fresh seafood such as the Inatori specialty of kinmedai (red bream), dried fish, processed marine products, just-harvested vegetables and seasonal fruits, patrons can buy local foodstuffs at lower prices than regular store prices. Local gourmet foods can be enjoyed on the spot and the kinmedai kama-meshi (a rice, red bream and vegetable dish served in a small pot) is popular. When you order it, they give you a free bowl of kinme arajiru (fishhead soup made with red bream). This is a popular place to get breakfast on a trip around Izu. The closest station is Izu-Inatori Station.
