Unno-Juku
In the early Edo period, the “Unno-Juku” was established as a post town on the important Hokkoku Kaido Highway that connected the Nakasendo and Hokurikudo roads. It prospered through sankinkotai (samurai taking turns to move to the city of Edo) and for the transport of gold from Sado. It is a quiet lodging town rich in history where the inn buildings of the Edo period and the Meiji period serene atmosphere of daily life of the sturdy sericulture buildings since remain.
