Yawataya Isogoro got its start by selling shichimi-togarashi spice on the grounds of Zenkoji Temple in 1736. The spiciness and taste of this balanced mix of seven spices gave it a unique appeal. Because it uses many ingredients produced in Nagano Prefecture, it has supplier contracts with local togarashi producers. Since its founding, it began selling various shichimi spices and others as well. It’s about a 20-minute walk from JR Nagano Station.

I stumbled on this place the last time i backpacked Japan. Im a spice guy so Bird Eye was my spice of choice. I bought ten of them and gave some as gifts. Time to reup.

善光寺の七名物の一つ、根元やわたやいそごろうの七味唐辛子です。唐辛子の缶を見たら知ってる！と思う人も多いのではないでしょうか。秘伝の調合七味も必需品ですがその他にも沢山の商品が出ています。通販で購入できるので自分好みを見つける事ができるでしょう。今回は大きな缶に惹かれて七味ごまを選びました。善光寺参り缶も買えば良かったー現地限定品ーまた行こうと思っています。
