Goryo-jinja Shrine

Shrine
This is a shrine surrounded by buildings in the middle of the busy business district. This shrine is also affectionately called Goryo-san and has been admired as the god (Ubusunagami) of the former Settsu Province since ancient times. People worship at the shrine to especially ward off evils spirits and pray for marriage. The Camphor tree on the north side of the main hall is considered a sacred tree because it was the only tree that survived the fires during the war, regenerating from its charred state. The tree is still growing and there is a myth that the tree has the power to fix burned skin. It is said it is good for your skin if you touch the tree and is called the Skin Protecting Tree.
