Maishima Pottery Museum
This museum makes use of the vast amounts of clay brought up from the ocean floor during the construction of Kansai Airport to teach people about Naniwazuyaki pottery and the techniques used in its creation. The museum owns the only ascending kiln in Osaka City, and the largest in the Kansai region, which is open to the public to create pottery using Naniwazu clay. (A fee is required for the firing.) The museum offers courses suitable for any level of experience, even for first-time beginners. The electric pottery wheel experience allows you to create drinking cups, for example, and the hand building experience, where you can make your own original pottery in actual pottery classes.
