Kungyokudo
This long-established store of incense near Nishi Honganji Temple is a 15 minute walk from JR Kyoto Station. The inside of the shop is large, and soft light creates a quiet atmosphere. The shop conveys one of Japan’s three largest forms of art, Kodo (traditional incense-smelling ceremony) to the present age. On the first floor of the store you can find gifts and items for the home, and on the second floor aroma bags and incense burners that can be enjoyed easily everyday are sold. Of course not only items for gifts but also able to be used for various purposes such as a room decoration and wearing. In Kungyokudo there is a fragrance seat facing the courtyard, and classes to experience incense smelling are held.
