Honke Sakura-Mochi Kotokiki Chaya

Candy Store
This shop established 100 years ago is a three minute walk from Arashiyama Station on the Randen (Keifuku Electric Railroad, Arashiyama Line) and is situated near the Togetsukyo Bridge. It produces and sells ‘sakura mochi,’ a rice cake with a red bean paste, wrapped in a pickled cherry leaf. Visitors can enjoy sakura mochi using Domyo Temple mochi wrapped in a cherry leaf with or without bean paste. The sakura mochi is additive and coloring free and if you try it you can enjoy the scent of cherry leaves, the texture of glutinous rice, and the refreshing sweetness of strained bean paste. There are approximately 120 seats in the restaurant, including the dining hall, and set menu meals are also available.
