Hyakumanben Tedukuri-Ichi (handicraft market)

This is a flea market held on the grounds of Hyakumanben Chionji Temple in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City selling hand-made goods. The market is held on the 15th of every month. In addition to selling handmade everyday items, there is also a variety of homemade bread, cakes and sweets on offer. The market began with only a few stalls but has expanded over the last five years and now exceeds 450 stalls. The stalls in the market are decided by lottery each month, so you may not be able to find the same stall as the month before. Many customers enjoy the market casually seeking a once in a lifetime encounter.
